Rice Cookers

1) Please ensure enough amount of water is used according to the rice type;
2) Please check if menu is selected according to the rice type;
3) Please check if anything is sticked under the pot. If so, remove it.

There are total 5 legs for these rice cookers. Usually the 2 front legs and one rear center leg form a triangle and keep the rice cookers stable. The other 2 legs at the rear (left and right side) do not touch the ground, and their purpose is that when you push the right or left side of the unit (rear side), these two legs behind support the unit and prevent it from tilting too much.

IH stands for “Induction Heating”. For Hitachi’s IH rice cooker, inner pot heats up on its own from the magnetic forces. And rice is cooked more evenly. This also minimizes damage to the original quality and taste of the grain.

Yes, under normal usage, it is still safe to use the same pot to cook the food for human consumption, but the rice may get burned and blacken at the peeling area. Hence it is advised to replace with a new pot if you can.

Wash with soft material such as sponge. When it does not get cleaned, use mild detergent (Dish detergent).

To avoid damaging the fluorine coating:

Use attached rice scoop provided
Do not wash it with spoons or bowls together
Do not use vinegar
Do not scrub inside with polishing powder or scrubbing brush.
Clean it with soft sponge only.
Clean rice in another container

It is normal for the rice cooker to have some clicking sound during cooking, soaking or warming. The sound is from the components operation on microcomputer.

This happens when voltage drops due to usage of an extension cord or plugging in other electrical components into the same power outlet. Do not use an extension cord and only use the power outlet for the rice cooker.

Press "CANCEL" button to return to the current time display. If it does not work or if the same display is shown repeatedly, please contact Hitachi Customer Service Centre for repairs.

The gap increases when pressure is applied. This is not a malfunction. Pressure will build up if the regulator valve hole is clogged or debris is preventing the internal ball from moving. Clean or unclog the inner lid regulator valve hole and ball.

The cooking process is automatically adjusted to achieve moist, fluffy and delicious rice. For this reason, the displayed cooking time might suddenly change during cooking. This is not a malfunction.

The cooking time will only be displayed for "WHITE", "NORMAL", and "RAPID" cooking program. The current time will also be displayed when the rice cooker body is hot.

There might be plastic or rubber smell during the first use but it will fade after a while. Other odours may occur after cooking mixed rice or using the pot for other food. This is normal.

Use fine sandpaper (No. 600) to rub if off and then wipe with damp cloth.
